Consideration of the role that subsidence bridges over the Shimanto River play in scenic views

要旨／Abstract
The landscape of the Shimanto River basin in Kochi Prefecture has been selected as an important cultural landscape of Japan. Subsidence bridge spanning the main stream or tributaries of the Shimanto River play an important role in the familiar landscape that is rooted in daily life. From 2018 to 2023, the author conducted a landscape survey of subsidence bridges in the Shimanto River basin. This time, we will report on the results of the field survey and document survey. Several types of cases were analyzed, from the Takahi Subsidence Bridge at the most upstream site to the Sada Subsidence Bridge at the farthest downstream. The analysis was conducted from various perspectives related to the scenic views, such as the subsidence bridge, the river, the village and surrounding natural environment, viewpoints and view objects, and topography. We then considered the role that the subsidence bridge over the Shimanto River plays in the scenic views.
