要旨/Abstract
Urban green spaces play a significant role as habitats for wildlife. In recent years, there has been a growing concern about the reduction and fragmentation of green spaces, which may lead to a loss of biodiversity. Therefore, in urban areas, the goal is to create an ecological network that connects patches with corridors.
In this study, we focused on the surrounding area of the Expo’70 Commemoration Park located in Suita City, Osaka Prefecture. The Expo Park is a regenerated forest park created from scratch on the site where the 1970 World Exposition was held. The objective of this study is to examine whether an ecological network is formed in the surrounding area of the Expo’70 Park, using birds as indicators.
Bird surveys were conducted on the south side of the Expo’70 Park during the breeding and wintering seasons of the 2022 fiscal year, and during the breeding season of the 2023 fiscal year on the north side of the Expo Park. The results of the south-side survey showed little significant correlation between the distance from the Expo’70 Park and bird distribution, suggesting that birds extensively utilize the surrounding environment with the Expo’70 Park as their habitat base.
Future research will conduct surveys during the wintering season on the north side and analyze the overall data to examine the relationship between birds and the environment, aiming to discuss the formation of an ecological network. This presentation reports on the progress of that ongoing study.
